Refund policy
Refund & Returns
We want you to be happy with what you buy from us — whether that's online or in the shop. If something isn't right, here's how returns and refunds work.
Our return window
You have 30 days from the day you receive your order (or make your purchase in-store) to request a return.
For a standard change-of-mind return, we ask that items are unworn and in resalable condition, with tags attached where applicable, along with your receipt or proof of purchase. If an item shows more wear than reasonable handling would cause, we may deduct an amount from your refund reflecting the reduced value, rather than decline the return outright.
Online orders — your legal right to cancel
If you're a UK customer buying online, you also have a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, for any reason, without needing to give a justification. If you cancel within this period, we'll refund the item cost and our standard delivery charge (if you chose a faster or premium delivery option, we'll refund the equivalent of our standard rate). Our own 30-day window is more generous than this and already covers it, so you're always covered by whichever works best for you.
If you cancel, you'll need to cover the cost of returning the item to us — see Who pays for return postage below.
Starting a return
Please contact us first at shop@studentsofthegame.co.uk so we can give you return instructions and make sure everything's processed smoothly.
Returns should be sent to: Students of the Game, 3 South Street, Eastbourne, BN21 4UJ.
Who pays for return postage
If you're sending something back because you've changed your mind, you cover the cost of returning it. We'd suggest a tracked service — until it reaches us, the item is still your responsibility.
If an item is faulty, damaged, or isn't what you ordered, we cover the return cost. Get in touch before sending it back and we'll sort out how.
Either way, if you cancel an online order within the 14-day statutory window, we'll still refund the standard delivery charge you paid to receive it.
Refunds
Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know if it's approved. If it is, we'll refund you to your original payment method within 10 business days. Your bank or card provider may take a little longer to show it on your statement.
If more than 15 business days have passed since your return was approved and you haven't seen the refund, get in touch at shop@studentsofthegame.co.uk.
Exchanges
The majority of the products we sell are a one-off — vintage kit, signed pieces, retro finds — so we're rarely able to offer a straight swap for the same item in a different size or condition. Approved returns are processed as refunds; if there's something else you'd like instead, you're welcome to place a new order, though we can't guarantee an identical piece will still be available.
Damages and issues
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you're entitled to a full refund if an item arrives faulty, damaged, or significantly different from how it was described, within 30 days of receipt — and to a repair, replacement, or refund beyond that, up to six months. This is separate from our standard return window above, and there's no need to report it the moment your order arrives — just get in touch as soon as you notice, and we'll put it right.
Exceptions
Sale items bought in-store are final sale. Sale items bought online can still be returned within the 14-day statutory cancellation window described above. Gift cards are non-refundable unless required by law.
